Their duties include conducting clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and developing treatment and follow-up plans. GPs also play a key role in preventive medicine through health education, vaccinations, and lifestyle counseling. They manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, while coordinating referrals to specialists when advanced care is needed. In addition to clinical expertise, the role demands strong communication and decision-making skills to build trust and ensure continuity of care. GPs often work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive services. Ultimately, a General Practitioner ensures accessible, high-quality healthcare in community and clinical settings, promoting overall wellbeing and early detection of diseases.
