Michael Spartalis

Michael D. Spartalis, MD, MSc, MHCM, PhD, FESC, FEHRA, FACC, CCDS, CEPS-A, is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Attending Cardiologist at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His clinical practice focuses on atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, catheter ablation, pulsed field ablation (PFA), cardiac implantable electronic devices (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT), conduction system pacing, lead management, and left atrial appendage closure (LAAC). Dr. Spartalis has extensive experience with contemporary electrophysiology technologies, including electroanatomical mapping systems, catheter ablation platforms, cardiac rhythm management devices, and structural heart interventions. He routinely evaluates emerging cardiovascular technologies and follows developments in electrophysiology, digital health, artificial intelligence, and medical devices. In addition to his clinical activities, he serves as Deputy Editor of European Heart Journal – Case Reports, Social Media Consultant for JACC: Advances, Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), and Associate Editor in cardiac rhythmology. Dr. Spartalis has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications with over 21,000 citations and has received international recognition for his contributions to cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular innovation.
